Hi all! I have a major announcement to make about future blog posts on this site. In order to better monetize my writing, I have decided to start more posting blog posts on my Patreon page and posting less on here.
Although I love blogging and love making posts on here, I also like getting paid for my writing. The main purpose for this website Tonya’s Words is for me to have all my writing in one place so that I can promote my skills and get more paid opportunities.
As someone who has had three different blog sites between 2011-2018, I really appreciate how more opportunities have been created to make money as a writer, especially as a freelance writer.
Patreon isn’t perfect, but it is a decent way for me to get myself some much needed cash while waiting on responses for article pitches or pieces to be published. It’s also a guaranteed way for me to get paid for my writing. My freelance writing experience this year has been somewhat fraught b/c I’ve had to chase down delayed payments.
Patreon is also a great way for me to connect with my social media audience and the pop culture communities I’ve found. Like Patreon, Twitter is far from perfect, but I have a decent following there that has helped promote my writing.
From now on, I will be posting on here less frequently. I will try to post on here at least once a month, but I want to mainly focus on creating more content for my Patreon page. It’s been woefully neglected like this website was.
Yesterday, I posted a review of the mobile game Alto’s Odyssey to my Patreon. When I first publish a Patreon post, it will only be available to patreon donors at first. The next day, it will go public and be available for everyone to see.
If you’ve liked what I’ve posted on here, you can become a Patreon supporter of mine for as little as one dollar a month. You can also leave me a one time money donation of any amount via Paypal. Every donation big or small goes towards giving me money to help pay bills.
If you have a Twitter account, you can follow me on there to stay updated about all my writing. Thank you for all your support.
