It’s been a while since I last posted anything here. A lot has happened to me personally and professionally and needless to say, it’s been a very long year.
Yet life goes on and I’ve written a lot of great freelance pieces this year. Until now, I only promoted them on my Twitter account. However, I realized that posting them on my website is a better option because my relationship with Twitter is cautious at best.
In October, I wrote about topics ranging from Persona Q2’s impact on my creativity to moving on from harmful creators as an LGBTQ fan. Without further delay, here are the articles and essays I’ve written this month.
COMiCS XF
Vampire Magicka Is A Monstrous Take On Magical Boys– I reviewed Bryan Golden’s cute and mildly terrifying take on mahou shoujo characters, the Webtoon comic Vampire Magicka.
Captain Zero Into The Abyss Peers Into Black Mental Health Issues– I reviewed Lamard Cher-Aimé’s powerful and vulnerable animated short film Captain Zero Into The Abyss.
The Gamer
Persona Q2 Taught Me To Value My Creativity– I wrote an essay about how the 3DS video game Persona Q2 helped me recover my creativity as a poet and how it inspired my poem “I Am Thou, Thou Art I”.
Into More
How To Let Go of Media That Doesn’t Love You Back– I wrote about engaging problematic creators and media as a queer person of color and how you can take steps to move on from them to something better.
The Ability Toolbox
10 Mental Health Books That Are BIPOC & LGBTQ Inclusive– I wrote about mental health workbooks and memoirs that are diverse in terms of authors and coping strategies.
