February was a great month for me as a freelance contributor. Not only did I do a couple Black History Month related piece on comic books, but I also got to review the final issue of Marvel’s Midnight Suns comic book mini series. Without further ado, here are the freelance articles I wrote that went up this month.
POPVERSE
10 Comics By Black Creators You Should Read– There are a lot of indie and lesser known Black comic book creators out there and so I wanted to give them a spotlight with this piece.

Legends Are Never Forgotten In ‘The Secret History of Black Punk’– This comic book zine was brought to my attention because it is an illustrated history of Black punk rock music artists. Being a rock and metalhead, I had to review it for myself and it is very visually striking and informative.
Midnight Suns Issue 5 Review– This final issue of Marvel’s Midnight Suns didn’t quite stick the landing for me, but it was still fun to read overall.
Into More
Is Love The Answer Shows The Fluidity of Asexuality and Identity– I came across Uta Isaki’s manga Is Love The Answer in early February and found it super validating in terms of my own orientation so I decided to write about it.
10 LGBTQ Comics+ That Will Make You Feel All The Love– The manga company Viz Media asked me about featuring Mieri Hiranashi’s autobiographical lesbian comedy manga The Girl Who Can’t Get A Girlfriend in a piece, so I decided to pitch a queer Valentine’s Day feature focusing on a variety of comics that showcase love.

Why Magic Knight Rayearth Is Essential Viewing For Anime Fans– Magic Knight Rayearth had its 20th anniversary last year. While I personally prefer the manga, the anime’s first season did a pretty good job with adapting the first part of the series and adding a bit more meat to it. Since the series is now available to stream again, I ended up writing why you should give it a chance.
